The Jack Schrumpf Award
Along with Frank Sayre, Jack Schrumpf was one of the "founding fathers" of the NJSBUA, over eighty years ago. Jack was widely respected throughout New Jersey for being an outstanding collegiate and high school baseball umpire and for his mastery of baseball rules at both levels.
Jack Schrumpf held various high-level positions in the NJSBUA, during his many years of service in our organization. These included: NJSBUA president, long-standing executive board member, baseball interpreter, and cadet instructor. In addition to his tireless work in the NJSBUA, Jack annually wrote the baseball examination for all prospective umpires in New Jersey; he coordinated the administration of the state exam and he served as the NJSIAA state baseball interpreter, until his passing in 1989.
